A 13-year-old pupil at Joy Max Academy in Eldoret suffered bruises after a teacher beat him for writing a love letter to a girl in the same school.
The Standard 7 pupil identified as Samuel was beaten with a wire after the girl reported the incident.
“He took a wire and started beating me everywhere and kicking my head. Then he whipped me on the neck. When I started bleeding, he got shocked,” explains Samuel.
A clip aired on NTV shows bruises on his back, thighs and neck, with the responsible teacher saying that they did not contact his parents about the incident because they were scared of their reaction.
Samuel’s father, who saw the bruises when he went to visit him at school says he has reported the matter to police, The Star reports.
Corporal punishment is illegal in Kenya.
