Laikipia County deputy governor, Gitonga Kabugi has accused his boss Governor Joshua Irungu of embezzling public funds.
Kabugi wants the governor to explain how his administration spent over KES.5billion.
He said the county government is spending KES.12m a day without visible outcome.
He was speaking at Umande primary school during commissioning of renovated classrooms.
Kabugi noted that the commissioned 11 classrooms were renovated at a cost of KES.1m only by a Laikipia rancher Joercen Kamwaki while the county government is spending KES.12m a day with little to show for it.
Kabugi who has constantly complained of being sidelined by his boss declared to oppose him during next year’s general elections.
He said corruption was imminent in the region, urging the residents to take audit of the projects initiated by the county government and scrutinize them critically.
Kabugi said he decided to keep calm and quiet after he was sidelined and denied any responsibility, noting that he had an option of making the county ungovernable.
