TNA Chairman Ousted, Accused Of Dictatorship

The National Alliance (TNA) party Nyeri County branch has kicked out its chairman businessman Thuo Mathenge as they accused him of dictatorship.

The party officials led by their Secretary, Reginah Wanjiru Macharia said since Thuo took over the party’s chairmanship there has been a leadership deficiency.

While addressing a press conference in Nyeri town, Macharia said Mathenge has since been replaced by Joseph Macharia from Kieni constituency.

“Mathenge declared himself as Jubilee Party (JP) chairman in the County. He ought to understand that JP and TNA are two different political parties and you can not belong to both,” said Macharia who is also a nominated member of Nyeri County Assembly.

She further lashed out at Mathenge for rebranding TNA offices at Skuta Estate with JP colours without consulting.

She added that since Mathenge took over the chairmanship, more than one year ago, he has never convened officials’ meeting.

“We want democracy and leadership in our party not dictatorship. He has been kicking out officials who were elected by the public,” Macharia added.

She also accused Mathenge of blocking political aspirants from joining the party after he declared his interests for Nyeri gubernatorial seat.

“Aspirants were fearing to join the party as the former chairman announced his bid for Nyeri governorship. We are not comfortable with his leadership,” she further noted.
