I Said ‘Yes’ To A Man I Did Not Meet

On the morning my grandfather died, I received a message on Facebook from a 20-year-old guy to whom I sent a friend request to just days earlier. I remembered seeing him in primary school but never spoke to him.

The message read: “Good day, Ma’am. Where do I know you from?”

Only 18 years old at the time, I did not respond because of the circumstances around the tragic death of my grandfather. But later that day I received the same Facebook message. I responded to him and just a couple of minutes later, he responds with his contact details and says that he wants to get to know me better.

Just like that.

I was grieving my grandpa’s death so I wasn’t very friendly with this young man, but still he tried to chat to me every day, asking me how I was doing.

I gave in and, eventually, we started feeling the spark and chatted frequently. I saw that this guy knew what he wanted and he later asked me over the phone to be his girlfriend. I know, right. But I said yes anyway.

One New Year ’s Eve, he said he couldn’t handle not to being with me. He cut his holiday short and drove 1200 km to meet me 3 days later. We met in front of the primary school we both went to and at this point, it was more than ‘love at first sight.’

My parents loved him and before he had to return home, he asked me to go with him to meet his parents. I went with him and is parents loved me too.

Exactly a month later, he proposed and I said yes. We realised how fast this was moving and, regardless, our family gave us their blessing.

Faith brought us together at the right time in our lives. It’s now 3 years later and we are still in love as the day he proposed. We are planning to get married on October 28th 2017.
We truly are best friends, soul mates and God’s gift to one another. I know God sent this man for me that day he took my grandfather back.

Suren and I agreed to a typical arranged meeting at my home. When he arrived at my house, I looked through the window trying to see who he was.

I felt butterflies in my stomach when I saw a tall, handsome looking man getting out of the car.
I was really nervous and anxious. I was dressed in Eastern attire and upon greeting Namaste(hello) to all including Suren, I took a seat opposite the man that I would be married to.

I didn’t realise it then, but I liked him enough to say yes to a start of friendship, falling in love and eventually marriage.

The result of our union is our precious, loving and treasured Akira who is 22 years old. I believe in fate and destiny because we have experienced this without a doubt and we would not have it any other way.
