Policeman Shot 17 Times By Hugs In Nairobi

A policeman was shot dead in cold blood in Nairobi, with 17 bullet cases being collected at the scene of the incident.

Inspector Michael Ziki of the Administration Police was shot at 17 times in his car by gunmen near the Kiwanja AP camp in Kahawa West, The Star reported.

Ziki was the officer in charge of the camp and the report stated that locals loved him and described him as a worker who served them well.

His passenger who was in the private car they were using also died in the shooting. Police say they are yet to know the motive of the shooting and those behind it.

The Standard reports that a boda boda rider was also killed in the 11 pm incident and a woman shot in the leg.

The bodies were found riddled with bullets and the car’s engine still running. The gunmen escaped with the officer’s Ceska pistol.

A junior police officer is quoted as saying that the deceased was responding to a distress call after patrons at a pub accused another AP officer of causing disturbance.

The officer said he heard gunshots after Ziki rescued his colleague from the patrons.

The bodies were taken to the Kenyatta University Mortuary.

” We have lost an officer and investigations are ongoing. We hope to have details soon,” Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ngetich is quoted as saying.
