Hamburg – Evidence is mounting against a woman who allegedly pushed her 11-year-old son in front of a train in Hamburg, leaving him seriously injured, police said on Monday.

An analysis of closed-circuit TV footage and witness reports indicates that the woman deliberately pushed her son onto the tracks at an underground station in the northern German city on Sunday, a police spokesperson said.

The 31-year-old woman is thought to be suffering from mental health problems and has been referred to a psychiatric hospital for examination, according to the state prosecutor.

Police said that the boy, who reportedly lost a foot when the train rolled over him, is no longer in life-threatening condition.
