Shooter at Oregon college killed

Paramedics return to their ambulances after taking patients to Mercy Medical Centre in Roseburg.

Washington – The gunman who opened fire at a community college in Oregon on Thursday, shooting dead several students, has been killed, Portland’s NBC affiliate reported, citing the state’s attorney general.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenbaum said 13 people were dead and up to 20 others wounded, KGW-TV reported.

Meanwhile, AP quoted a former president of the college as saying the school has only one security officer on duty at a time, and that person isn’t armed.

Joe Olson retired in June from his position as president of the college.
