A Cape Town policeman allegedly shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself on Monday morning, according to Western Cape police.
Both the 44-year-old officer and his 31-year-old girlfriend died as a result, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.
The shooting took place at a home in Dolphin Street, Strand just before 05:00.
Rwexana said the officer was stationed at the detective unit of the Macassar police station.
His identity had yet to be released.
