3 children injured in Carltonville blaze

Johannesburg – Three children were among five people who were injured when a house caught fire in Carltonville, west of Johannesburg, on Wednesday, said paramedics.

The children were aged 1, 5, and 10-years-old, said ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring.

“They had all suffered smoke inhalation and shock,” said Meiring.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the children and two adults sitting on the sidewalk outside their burning home.

“Fire services began battling the blaze which had apparently broken out in one of the bedrooms,” said Meiring.

“Shortly after the blaze was extinguished, paramedics transported the patients to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.”

It was unclear what had sparked the blaze.
