South Africa Police have discovered a pack of Methcathinone drugs at Liberty Church in South Africa which was founded by a politician and preacher, Mmusi Maimane.
According to reports, the church was raided on Friday, March 13, 2015 during a youth service after police secured permission and discovered a packet of cat drugs abandoned in the church premises.
Roodepoort Police spokeswoman, Nonhlanhla Khumalo confirmed the discovery, saying: ‘We ran an operation at the church until the early hours of the morning. No case has been opened because the drugs were not found on anyone, meaning there is no suspect. The drugs have been confiscated as an exhibit.’
Meanwhile Mmusi Maimane, who is the DA parliamentary leader wasn’t at the church at the time of the raid but has confirmed they are keen to investigate the raid and come up with answers.
‘We have communicated to the captain [of the police station] that the raid be investigated.
‘So that is where the matter sits at the moment, it will face its own judicial process’.
Methcathinone drugs is a monoamine alkaloid and psychoactive stimulant, a substituted cathinone. It is used as a recreational drug and considered to be addictive.
