The dream of every parent is to see that the dreams of their kids are realized. Football has become one of the most rewarding professions in the world.
Across Africa, it’s common sight to see kids playing football in the streets. Most of them grow up with the dream of becoming professional footballers, but, sadly, only a few get the support they need to make that dream come true.
That’s why mobile phone brand, TECNO Mobile, came up with Blue Squad – an initiative that’ll see kids from Africa spend a week training under Manchester City’s coaches at the club’s football academy.

The first batch of Blue Squad, comprised of thirteen kids from various African countries, is currently with The Citizens in England. Among them are three kids from Nigeria who were chosen through the online challenge and football clinic held in Lagos a few weeks ago.
As the kids are honing their skills, the mobile phone brand believes they could, in turn, help others who couldn’t make it to the training camp. In the words of General Manager of TECNO Mobile, Stephen Ha:
“Sport is a great way to provide new experiences and build communities and we are thrilled to be able to give youngsters from across Africa the chance to enjoy the beautiful game at its very best.
Blue Squad provides the perfect opportunity to give something back.”
TECNO Mobile is basically giving these African youngsters the opportunity to play as Premier League stars, and we couldn’t be any happier.
