As the country continues to receive the long rains, a thousand families within Nakuru town have been left homeless after their houses were flooded forcing them out.
The heavy rains have caused flooding in most of Nakuru estates with poor drainage system and blocked sewers being blamed for the mess.
As by Tuesday almost one thousand households were relying on relief food and support from the Kenya red cross and well wishers.
The most affected estates are Rhonda, Kaptembwa,London,Mwariki and Pondamali which are densely populated.
Residents of the affected areas have blamed the county of Nakuru for neglecting them and failing to unblock the blocked drainage systems.
“This problem of flooding is very simple and can be sorted out by simply fixing the drainage system but the county government seesm not keen to do that,”said Morris Omondi, Rodha resident.
However the county government through its communications office denied the allegations saying that the duty of fixing drainage systems is for the MCA’s who have been allocated money for the job.
