100 Injured, 50 Vehicles Destroyed As Police, Hoodlums Clash In Lagos

About 100 people were injured and over 50 vehicles damaged on Monday during a clash between hoodlums in Lafiaji and policemen from the Lion Building Division in Lagos.

Monday’s clash was an extension of the Saturday supremacy fight between two rivalry groups in the area.

Trouble started on Saturday after a politician allegedly gave out money in the area but was not equally shared among the groups.

The aggrieved faction was said to have gone on the rampage on Saturday, damaging property and hacking people with cutlasses.

The affected streets include Oshodi, Okepopo, Ajanaku, Glover and Tokunbo.

The fight, which continued on Sunday and Monday, prevented schoolchildren in the area from going to school.

It took the intervention of military officers from the Quick Response Group, 55 Battalion, Bony Camp, Victoria Island, before calm could be restored to the area on Monday.
