Ed Sheeran has surprised his fans with the release of a special track titled Afterglow.
The singer, who welcomed his first child with wife Cherry Seaborn this year, shared news of the track on social media, writing: “Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you.”
Before anyone could jump to conclusions, Ed assured fans that the single is not part of any upcoming album. “It’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now, ciao x.”

The song was released along with a performance video which was filmed in one take, according to a press statement. Ed also created the artwork for the track himself.
