Three New Movies In South Africa Cinemas This Weekend

Widows, Anon and Crimes of Grindelwald are in cinemas this weekend.

In the second instalment of the series Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student, Newt (Eddie Redmayne), to stop the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

Also showing: Viola Davis leads the pack in an all-female heist movie and Amanda Seyfried and Clive Owen star in a science fiction thriller set in the future.

Here are the 3 new films releasing in SA:
Movie: Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald

Our rating: 3/5

Short review: While the storylines lack depth, the out of this world cinematography makes Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald a magical masterpiece in the wizarding world that fans, and even sceptics, will be enchanted by.

Our rating: 4/5

Short review: The ensemble is a blast. Everyone gets their moment and you come away feeling like you really got to know most of them, but it is Viola Davis who owns Widows from start to finish.

Movie: Anon

Our rating: 3/5

Short review: Anon does inspire some thought about the morality of technology and the concept of privacy in an increasingly digital world but that’s about it in terms of real substance.
