Actress Tessa Thompson will be playing the role of Marvel’s first LGBTQ Superhero in the upcoming Thor film.
The announcement was made during Marvel Studios’ barnstorming San Diego Comic-Con panel.
Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige confirmed that Thompson will play Valkyrie, who will be involved in an LGBTQ storyline. According to Feige, the storyline will see Valkyrie as Asgard’s new ruler, who seeks out a Queen to rule alongside her.
“As new king, she needs to find her queen. That will be her first order of business. She has some ideas. Keep you posted.”
“How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just Thor 4,” Feige said.
