Four secondary school students escaped death on Wednesday following the collapse of a two-storey building in Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to Punch, the students had been taken to the building site, which was still under construction, to perform menial labour for one of their teachers.
The teacher in question, a relative of one of the building owners, is said to have taken the students to the site numerous times as a form of punishment.
On Wednesday, while the boys were still in the vicinity, the building is said to have collapses, trapping the children underneath rubble.
Sources have revealed that the students were swiftly rescued and taken to a nearby building where they were washed off and returned to school.
The development follows on from the recent identification of 500 distressed buildings in Lagos, following the collapse of the Lekki Gardens building in March.
