South Africa: Google Celebrates Hugh Masekela’s 80th Birthday with Doodle

In celebration of the 80th birthday of the late legendary South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela, search engine Google has honoured him with a Google Doodle.

The Google doodle is live in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa and several other countries.

The jazz legend passed away in 2018, after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.

Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa thanked Google for “honouring” the Jazz legend as today’s Doodle – a testament of the rich legacy he left behind, that will live on for many generations to come.
