The trade union Ceppwawu has commended the employer for meeting some of its demands following a three week strike in the petroleum sector.
Ceppwawu which represents more than 15 000 workers met with the employer on Wednesday to sign a two-year wage deal.
Under the agreement, workers will receive a seven per cent salary increase in the first year, instead of the nine per cent they had initially demanded.
Ceppwawu spokesperson, Clement Chitjha says the cut-off date for workers to be back at work is on Monday.
“We are happy to have reached an agreement in line with the proposal or the recommendation of the CCMA commissioners which entails five key areas. ”
“The agreement will last for two years. And the workers will, be expected to be going back to work from the signing of the agreement on Monday.”
