President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government is broke and bankrupt, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has said, urging Kenyans to put the ruling coalition on notice over mismanagement of the nation.
Wetangula was speaking Thursday at Parliament buildings whilst addressing the press over concerns the government is using underhand methods to frustrate efforts to silence critics of the state.
He went after Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery’s move to arrest journalists for publishing stories about wastage at his ministry and the move by the CS to say that there is a move to destabilize the government.
” Those are the words of a broke, desperate and bankrupt government,” Wetangula said of the current state of affairs.
He also condemned the government for not arresting those it claimed were behind the said plots.
” Such alarming statements only serve to undermine the stability of the State. If there is any such plot, there are legal ways of dealing with it and the government has the machinery to investigate, arrest and prosecute those behind it,” he added.
Wetangula urged Kenyans to open their eyes and ears and not fall for government plots to hide the high level of stealing and looting within government.
” Kenyans should not fall for the propaganda being peddled by the government and should instead be ready to fight for the betterment of the country,” he asked.
The government is in the midst of a serious cash crunch which has seen many projects crippled and increased public borrowing, which has in turn lowered the Shilling and raised interest rates.
