An MP says that President Uhuru Kenyatta is jealous of the popularity of CORD leader Raila Odinga in Maasai land thus his open tirade against the opposition leader.
The President was switched into action Wednesday in Narok, attacking the CORD leader on a number of issues.
That was after Raila had stated that former Maasai leader William Ole Ntimama was an ODM member at death.
According to Kajiado Central MP Memusi Kanchori who was at the funeral, Uhuru was unhappy with the popularity of the CORD leader in Maasai land.
“The Jubilee team was unhappy because Raila received a rapturous welcome in a place where they feel they are the most popular,” he told News24.
He promised the ruling coalition a run for its money come the 2017 elections.
“As you saw, the so called Jubilee popularity is only on the newspapers. When you come to the ground, it is a different matter. People here will vote for ODM come 2017,” he added.
The Maasai vote is expected to be a highly fought out affair come the 2017 elections, with both political forces trying hard to win a stake of the vote.
