President Uhuru Kenyatta has saluted the joint restorative group which led a 23-hour surgery that effectively separated 2-year-old conjoined twins at the Kenyatta National Hospital., aged two years.
“The effective surgery by the multidisciplinary group is a continental first; and given the way that it was led at the KNH Main Theater, is declaration of the immeasurable change in the quality and limit of social insurance offices and administrations accessible in Kenya’s open healing centers,” said President Kenyatta
While wishing the twin girls a quick convalescence as they embark on life after the surgery, the Head of State thanked the medical team for their outstanding work, dedication and a great sense of civic duty.
The team comprised of 50 specialists from the Kenyatta National Hospital and the University of Nairobi’s School of Health Sciences.

The girls were admitted in 2014 at the referral hospital a day after birth and have been at the facility for the last two years as planning of the surgery went on
“The children are stable, receiving specialised care and we are monitoring their progress. We are confident that they will fully recover and live normal independent lives to adulthood,” read a facebook update from KNH.
