President Jacob Zuma, President Yoweri Museveni’s Shortest’ Meeting

President Jacob Zuma found time on Monday to host his Ugandan counterpart President Yoweri Museveni, even as the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) was locked in a room debating his fate.

According to SABC, the two leaders met for just an hour at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria, as Zuma had to rush back to the extended NEC meeting that was also held in Pretoria.

The two, however, agreed to meet at another time, the report said, adding that Zuma described the meeting as a “success”.

The two heads of state reportedly discussed security concerns on the continent.

Zuma survived a grueling attack on his leadership from within the NEC.

The “surprise” motion by Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom for the president to step down or be rfecalled was defeated.
