President Buhari Summons CBN Governor Over Sanusi’s Criticism

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday summoned the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele for a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, reports Punch.

The summon follows Wednesday’s criticism of the economy policies of the federal government by the Emir of Kano, Mohammadu Sanusi.

Sanusi had said the Buhari-led administration might end up like the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration if it failed to reverse some policies.

The monarch according to News 24 urged Buhari to retrace his steps and not end up like the Jonathan-lead administration.

Thursday meeting between the President and the CBN governor was held behind closed-doors.

The meeting it was learnt afforded the CBN governor the opportunity to get approval to reply Sanusi.

The CBN in the coming days is expected to respond to Sanusi’s comment.

Buhari had on Thursday said he would not fight the monarch over his comments.

The President said rather than fighting the Emir, he would listen and act on the criticism.
