Police spokesman Charles Owino has hinted that they might arrest senior opposition leaders in the coming days over the weekly anti-IEBC demonstrations.
Owino said the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) bigwigs are not above the law and that it is only the President who cannot be arrested.
“We do not fear arresting anybody. The law must be followed to the latter and whoever is found to have violated the law will be arrested and prosecuted,” said the spokesman.
Owino was fielding questions from journalists on Tuesday outside Nyeri County commissioner’s office after a meeting with Nyeri county police officers.
CORD coalition has been holding protests countrywide every Monday in a bid to push IEBC commissioners out of office.
On Monday, three people died in Siaya and Kisumu as protesters battled with anti-riot police.
Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale was the first senior politician to be arrested and arraigned in court over the protests.
Several police officers were also injured during the protests.
Owino warned the youth against threatening the life of police officers saying they will blame themselves later.
