For many ardent fans and lovers of Nollywood, the just concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) night was the perfect night to catch up on their favourite actors and see them dressed in their very best. One particular actress that most eyes would have been searching for at the event would have been none other than Mercy Aigbe.
But as it turned out, the beautiful actress did not show up at Eko Hotels and Suites where the occasion held. This got her fans worried and even disappointed.
While many other top Nollywood divas turning up in their jaw dropping attires, it was impossible to think that the female sensation would not pop around the corner and dazzle everyone with her own ensemble.

After the event, many fans took to Mercy’s Instagram DM and other social media means to ask why she did not show up for them. A particular lover of the actress had said she had waited all night to see the female filmmaker which she considered a fashion icon.
The comment of this fan about Mercy being one to look out for when it came to fashion must have been said against the backdrop of the stunning attire she wore for AMVCA 2016 and 2017 which left many people dazed for a long time.
With the many messages and comments flooding her social media pages, Mercy could by no means turn no deaf ear to her fans, so she replied with a message that very well stated the reason for her absence.

According to her, she was stuck at a location where she was filming a movie directed by Desmond Elliot, another veteran actor like her. She however apologized to her fans for “standing them up” just as she acknowledged the other actresses who had looked fabulous on that day:
“Awww I am not even gonna pretend that I didn’t see all the Comments, all the tags, all the plenty DMs, I feel so loved I was stuck on set, filming the Series ‘Palaver’ directed by @desmondelliot…. pain me sha! But the show had to go on!!!!!!!….. Super proud of all the DIVAS that graced the red carpet, they all looked magnificent…. Congrats once again to all the winners and all the Nominess……Next year is almost here!
