The Nigerian Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari over the country’s recent inclusion into the Saudi Arabia-led coalition against terrorism.
According to Daily Post, the NCEF chairperson, Solomon Asemota, said the decision was against the rights of Nigerians, as it disregarded views of non-Muslim citizens who also helped bring the current administration into power.
“Including Nigeria in the Saudi Arabia Military coalition of Muslims/Arab nations would appear that the foreign policy thrust of the current administration is to make Nigeria a satellite state of Saudi Arabia,” Asemota was quoted as saying.
Buhari recently confirmed that Nigeria was now a member of the Islamic Coalition Against Terrorism, spearheaded by Saudi Arabia.
Ever since his confirmation, many concluded that Buhari was bent on Islamizing the country.
“We are part of it (the Islamic coalition) because we’ve got terrorists in Nigeria that everybody knows which claim that they are Islamic,” Buhari was quoted as saying during an interview in Qatar.
