Niger-Delta Sea Commandos, NDSC, a militant group in the Niger Delta region has strongly urged President Muhammadu Buhari to put an end to his pretentious calls for peace and to put action to his words by entering into a dialogue with the militants, Vanguard reports.

The NDSC have threatened Buhari by telling him that the only way to avert the looming disaster was to enter into negotiations with the stakeholders of militant groups and to meet their demands.

The Sea Commandos are demanding that the Niger Delta region be given its independence as a sovereign state with many calling for a referendum to establish what Nigerians want.

News24 Nigeria previously reported the calls by a new militant group, Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta for a sovereign state that has thrown peace negotiations into chaos.

Despite continued threats of violence, the Federal Government have continued to repair damaged pipelines in a move that has seen tensions rise considerably between the two warring parties.
