President Mohammadu Buhari on Thursday pleaded with the nation’s Academic Staff Union of Universities to shelve its planned strike in the interest of peace, reports Today.ng
Buhari said this yesterday in Osun during his one-day working visit to the state barely 48 hours after ASUU threatened to embark on a nationwide strike to press home its demands for the implementation of its 2009 agreement with the Federal Government.
Buhari maintained that education would no longer be relegated to the background by his administration as 10per cent of the budget was already devoted to education with a view to demonstrating its priority.
He insisted that education would be given priority by the three tiers of governments for the overall development of every individual in the society.
