Abuja – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday said a former director of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), General Letam Wiwa, was not in its custody, contrary to media reports.
The agency’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the former DMI’s name was not on the list of those detained over the $2.1 billion arms deal.
When contacted, Wiwa, who is currently the deputy commandant at the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Oshodi, Lagos, said he was in his office and has neither been invited nor arrested.
Reports in some newspapers had claimed Monday morning that Wiwa, a major general, was arrested at the weekend and transferred to Abuja for further questioning by EFCC operatives over alleged involvement in a $2.1 billion arms deal
