Nigeria: Court Sentences Man To One Year Imprisonment For Human Trafficking

The National Industrial Court sitting in Kano State has sentenced a 29-year-old man, Agantem Anthony to one year imprisonment for human trafficking.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Honorable Justice Ebeye David handed down the verdict guilty on the 2nd of February 2023, after finding Agantem guilty of trafficking in person, preferred against him by the agency.
The convict – a 29 year old Male of Bassara Village was charged for attempting to procure the illegal entry of a Female from Ogun state to go through Kano, Katsina, Niger Republic and then Libya an offence Contrary to Section 29 and punishable Under Section 26 (1) of the Trafficking in Persons Act, 2015. He was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment without the option of fine, the statement read.
