The Boko Haram insurgency afflicting Nigeria and neighbouring countries will be among issues on the agenda when African and European envoys meet in Belgium on Tuesday.
The ninth joint consultative meeting will be attended by members of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU) and the Political and Security Committee of the European Union (EU) ambassadors.
During the retreat, ambassadors will discuss counter-terrorism, radicalisation and violent extremism as well as migration.
In Nigeria, the violent crimes are perpetrated by the Islamic militant Boko Haram, whose campaign has claimed the lives of 20 000 lives and displaced over 3 million civilians.
In the retreat, ambassadors will review crisis situations and threats to peace and stability.
