Muslim Cleric Arraigned For Defiling His 3-Year-Old Daughter In Kenya

Shanzu Law Court has remanded a Muslim cleric for defiling his three-year-old daughter.

The court heard that Mohammed Ahmed, also known as Ustaadh, defiled his daughter on diverse dates between July 2013 and 2015 at his home in Kwa Bullo area Kisauni, within Mombasa County.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache Tuesday, Ahmed however denied the charges.

The prosecution told the court that Ahmed committed the offence after the mother of the minor left for other duties. When she returned home, she found the minor groaning in pain.

Ahmed also faced a second charge of committing indecent acts with the minor which caused her both physical and psychological injuries.

Mochache said that she is handling many defilement cases most of which involve parents and very close relatives and denied Ahmed bond.

“I cannot release the accused person on bond since most parents especially women are compromised to an extent of vanishing with the victims, putting the cases to an end,” she told the court.

She said that the minor will be taken to a psychiatric to determine whether she can testify before a court.

The suspect will remain at the Shimo la Tewa remand for the next two weeks pending hearing of the case on July 19.
