Kenyatta In The Limelight Over Third Foreign Trip In A Week

Nairobi – President Uhuru Kenyatta left the country on Wednesday morning for Arusha, Tanzania in order to attend the 17th Ordinary East African Community (EAC) Heads of State Summit making this the third foreign trip in seven days.

According to Standard Media this is six days after he returned from his trip in Israel.

His three day trip at the biblical Holy Land consisted of him visiting the Wolfson Medical Centre where 20 Kenyan children had undergone heart surgeries through Save a Child’s Heart Kenya.

Then again on Sunday the Head of State had left for Dijbouti in order to attend a State Summit on Somalia.

Last year President Uhuru Kenyatta has been forced to defend his frequent travel abroad after an outbreak of mass ridicule on the Internet from Kenyans mocking him as a foreign leader making a fleeting visit to their country.

However Presidential spokesman Manoah Esipisu was came to Kenyatta’s defence explaining that, “The cost is really nothing compared to the result,” he said, noting a $1.5 billion Chinese loan secured during the summit meeting in South Africa as one example.

“We cannot claim the leadership position we have in the region yet shun our obligations to deal with regional issues.”
