President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to name the new interim officials of the newly formed Jubilee Party in 10 days time at an elaborate function.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale on Thursday revealed that plans for the scheduled event, where the new structure of the party will be unveiled, were almost done.
“We are going to unveil our interim officials for our new party in the next 10 days. We don’t have officials. Those who are there is because of the change of name. Our party leadership is going to reflect the face of Kenya and ethnic diversity,” Duale told The Standard.
Dagoreti South Member of Parliament (MP) Dennis Waweru, divulged that Kenyatta and his DeputyWilliam Ruto agreed that party affairs would be run by professionals from the parties that merged into Jubilee to guarantee fair nominations and prevent political influence.
“Having any politician manage any part of the party will not be fair. It is important our two leaders ensure that none of us has an advantage over any candidates,” Waweru confirmed.
Jubilee Party will have 31 positions both at the national and county levels and the elected officials will run affairs from the party headquarters in Pangani.
“Executive directors of parties which have strongholds in certain areas will be moved to a different region. For example, the URP boss could be deployed anywhere but not the Rift Valley,” an official disclosed.
A source privy to the matter disclosed that Kenyatta and Ruto could not name the party officials during its launch in Kasarani because they were yet to agree on whether politicians could hold positions in the new alliance.
