President Uhuru Kenyatta has slammed FKF bosses over the cheating fiasco which saw the national under 20 group prohibited by CAF from continental qualifiers.
The President, talking to the Federation manager Nick Mwendwa and other elderly officials at State House on Friday explained that the choice to send out excess gamers for CAF qualifiers was unnaceptable.
” Lets not sugar-coat this issue. it is cheating. Its breaking the rules,” he stated.
He continued that the Federation has to do better next time.
” If the federation doesn’t know the rules, that is carelessness. This cannot happen again. It cannot be allowed,” he added.
The Federation boss Mwendwa stated that the Federation would pay more attention in future.
The Under 20 team was disqualified from the qualifiers for the African championships after fielding ineligible players versus Sudan in March.
As per CAF rules, only players born on or after January 1, 1997 are eligible to play in the tournament. But in the Kenyan team there were five players who were born before that date.
