Nairobi – Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero leads Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko and former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru in a poll on their candidacy for the 2017 General Elections.
The poll conducted by governance agency TIFA shows that Kidero and Sonko are neck and neck at 28%.
Waiguru only polls 7%, while Margaret Wanjiru has only 4%.
Other candidates Johnstone Sakaja and Dennis Waweru each have only 1%.
” The poll shows that there is still a long way to go but most clearly already just think of the incumbent Kidero and Sonko as the front runners,” Maggie Ireri of TIFA told News24.
24% of Nairobians are yet to decide who to vote for which could favour Waiguru.
The poll was conducted between January 20 and February 3, 2016 both dates when Waiguru and Sakaja had yet to come out clean about their plans.
Waiguru was open about the poll when asked.
” The polls are there for a reason. We are still very early in our campaigns. Time will tell a different story,” she said of the poll results.
Kidero is confident of retaining his seat.
” I am confident. That said, at the moment the important thing is to work for city residents. That is all that really matters right now,” he stated.
