Idris Elba, a Hollywood actor, will helm the Lagos-based short film “Dust To Dreams” in partnership with Nigerian filmmaker Mo Abudu.
Dust to Dreams explores the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter when she sees her father for the first time.
Mo Abudu took to social media on Tuesday to give more information about the film, which will include British-Nigerian music sensation Seal, Nollywood actors Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, and former Nigerian Idol competitor Constance Olatunde.
Her tweet, based on a Deadline report, also reveals that the film is a cooperation between EbonyLife Films and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) via its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).
“I’m beyond thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration close to my heart!” she wrote.

In 2023, Abudu and Elba’s production businesses, EbonyLife Media and Green Door Pictures, formed a co-production partnership that resulted in Dust To Dreams, their first noteworthy production.
The film’s creator, Abudu, will serve as both executive producer and producer, with Heidi Uys as supervising producer. Other co-producers on the project are Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.
