Britney Spears, the American singer, claims she had an abortion while dating American record producer Justin Timberlake.
Spears, 41, and Timberlake, 42, were together from 1999 until 2002. When the singers started dating, they were 17 and 18, respectively.
However, the couple split up due to adultery charges.
According to TMZ, Spears discussed her connection with Timberlake in her upcoming memoir, ‘The Woman in Me,’ which will be released on October 24.
In the book, the ‘Princess of Pop’ hitmaker stated that she adored Timberlake and hoped to create a family with him.
She added that when she was confronted with an unforeseen pregnancy, the ‘Mirrors’ hitmaker was dissatisfied and stated that they were too young for parenting.
She went on to say that while she was apprehensive to get an abortion, she had to agree with Timberlake’s decision not to keep the baby.
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I had anticipated,” she wrote.
“But Justin definitely was not happy about the pregnancy. He said we were not ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.
“I am sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I do not know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he did not want to be a father.”
Spears is now divorcing Sam Asghari, an Iranian-American model and actor.
Timberlake, on the other hand, is married to Jessica Biel and has two boys with her, Silas and Phineas.
