Troops have intensified their onslaught on the Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast, rescuing hundreds of civilians from captivity in the process.
This past weekend, the troops also rescued 455 persons, who have been escorted them to Gamboru Internally Displaced Persons’ camp.
Troops of 3 Battalion reportedly caught a suspected Boko Haram terrorists’ spy near the Battalion Headquarters at Gamboru Ngala. On interrogation, he allegedly confessed that he was sent to spy on the troops from Wulge.
Consequent upon this the troops organised a fighting patrol comprising elements of Army Headquarters Strike Group and Civilian Joint Taskforce Wulge and Walamari.
The troops killed 27 suspected terrorists.
They also cleared 12 terrorists’ camps.
“Unfortunately, we lost one of the Civilian JTF. Nevertheless, the troops’ morale remains very high,” said Sani Kukasheka Usman Kukasheka, Acting Director Army Public Relations.
Elsewhere, the 121 Task Force Battalion at Sambisa forest axis, Pulka repelled an attack by the sect members, killing seven terrorists and wounding several others.
Usman said troops were buoyed.
“We wish to state that our troops are hale and hearty,” he said.
Meanwhile, troops of 103 Battalion on Saturday evening ambushed Boko Haram terrorists at Mairimri village crossing point in which they killed an unspecified number of terrorists.
