For his new movie, In The Heart Of The Sea, Chris Hemsworth lost a ton of weight by sticking to a strict 500 calorie-a-day diet – and shared the evidence on his Instagram, writing: ‘Just tried a new diet/training program called “Lost At Sea”. Wouldn’t recommend it..’

2. 50 Cent

The 42-year-old rapper lost a staggering 22kg for his role in the 2011 film ‘Things Fall Apart’. According to Suggest, 50 Cent played the role of a football player who developed cancer. The rapper was on a liquid diet and would run on a treadmill for a tiring three hours a day.

3. Jared Leto

The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman, gained an astonishing 27 kg for his role as Mark David in the movie ‘Chapter 27’, Suggest reported. To stay true to the character for the 2007 film, the 45-year-old ate loads of ice-cream and added olive oil and soya sauce to practically all of his meals.

4. Anne Hathaway

This brunette beauty lost 11kg to play the role of homeless prostitute, Fantine, in the film remake of the musical Les Miserables. The 34-year-old actress took up cleansed eating and had only two small squares of dried oatmeal paste a day, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Anne was so weak at one point, that she broke her arm after a simple fall.

5. Charlize Theron

This South African born actress gained over 13kg to play the role of Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 hit film ‘Monster’. Not only did the 42-year-old pack on the pounds, but she had her skin layered with washed off tattoo ink and wore dentures, Indie Wire reported. But it wasn’t all in vain; the blonde-haired beauty bagged an Academy Award for her amazing performance in the movie.

6. Matthew McConaughey

This hottie lost an incredible 19kg to play Ron Woodruff in the movie ‘Dallas Buyers Club’. According to the Hollywood, the 47-year-old actor went on a diet plan that included egg whites, diet coke and a single piece of chicken a day.

7. Christian Bale

The 43-year-old actor gained a shocking 20kg for his role as Dick Cheney in the 2013 film ‘American Hustle’. Christian told People Magazine that he ate tons of doughnuts and cheeseburgers a day to pack on the pounds.
