Rapper Sarkodie has come under fire from a section of Ghanaians on social media following his rants over how Ghana and Africa should be run.
In a series of tweets, the Sarkcess Music boss aired his displeasure with certain developments on the continent.
He touched on neo-colonialism and oppression, while suggesting that Africa may need dictatorship to create its own identity.
“What we need at this point might seem like dictatorship and will feel uncomfortable since we have enjoyed temporal [sic] freedom for a minute but we need drastic measures to survive,” Sarkodie wrote.
In another tweet, he said: “We can’t be taking orders from the oppressor… it will never be in our favour.”
He urged the current generation to “make a change, let’s forget about the older generation, even our generation and impact the next.”

I genuinely want to see us survive 🙏🏾 … It doesn’t matter how good my life will be in this lifetime but what my future generations will have to face later …

The rapper spat more fire in his other tweets, clearly venting his displeasure at how things are done in Ghana and in Africa.
The “Can’t let you go” hit maker has since risen to the top of the Ghana Twitter trends in the last 24 hours.
However, it appears not everybody understands where Sarkodie is coming from, with some people descending on him.
Some believe he is faking the talk, while others also berated him for suggesting dictatorship is the solution to Africa’s problems
Here are some of the tweets:

Sarkodie’s tweet is abhorrent and frankly beneath him too. For someone with his knowledge of Ghana and the world, I expect more nuance from him. If dictatorships were that excellent, wouldn’t his friend JJ Rawlings have saved us?
