Ethiopian Man Jumps Out of Moving Bus to Save Drowning 10-Year-Old Child

Abdi Tufa, a young Ethiopian man, has been hailed as a saviour after jumping from a moving bus and braving a flooded river to save a 10-year-old boy from drowning. Despite being pummeled by boulders and logs carried by flooding from the highlands, he persevered until he reached and saved Riyad Nesru.

During the rescue, he suffered significant injuries to his back and waist, as well as a fractured leg, he disclosed. He is undergoing medical treatment at the moment.

As reported by the BBC, Abdi was awakened on a bus to Addis Ababa by the anguished shouts of villagers desperately asking assistance to save 10-year-old Riyad from drowning or being carried away by swelling floodwaters.

The young youngster became stuck in the flood while caring to his family’s goats in Hirna, 350 kilometers (220 miles) east of Addis Abeba. Abdi decided to leap out of the bus window, stunning several passengers, and instantly jump into the river to help with the rescue operation.

As he peered through the bus window, he remembered the child being in desperate need. When he saw that no one was doing anything to save the youngster, who was on the verge of drowning, he decided to step in and help.

Abdi is currently recovering with the assistance of the boy’s family. Despite his injuries, which have rendered him unable to walk without assistance, Abdi expressed satisfaction at having successfully saved the boy’s life.

Riyad’s uncle characterized Abdi as an angel sent by God to save their child, underlining that Abdi’s bravery saved their child’s life. Abdi is now considered the family’s eldest son, and the family has committed to caring for him until he is fully recovered.
