CORD had rejected the 11 member team formed by the Jubilee Coalition to hold talks over the IEBC impasse.
The CORD leadership led by Raila Odinga say that the team formed by the Jubilee Coalition is filled with people who cannot negotiate and will derail the process.
They directly referred to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over the matter.
They also insisted that the talks must be centred outside Parliament and that any Parliamentary process would kill the spirit of the talks.
” The team and terms constituted by Jubilee are unnaceptable,” Raila said Thursday in Nairobi.
The CORD leadership is likely to be criticised for the move after President Kenyatta dropped his stance of no talks to accommodate their pleas.
Raila though, says that only total changes to the IEBC will stand.
” There is no changing of guard at the IEBC as the Jubilee Coalition is seeking. We want a new body in place and that is non negotiable,” he added.
In a quick rejoinder, Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale termed the move by CORD as symptomatic of an opposition that is keen to cause disorder.
” It is not surprising that CORD have rejected the same talks they have been calling for. This is a coalition hell bent on causing trouble,” he stated.
