Botswana-China Agreements Strengthen Bilateral Relations and Partnership

The Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi had discussions with his local counterpart Dr Lemogang Kwape in Bostwana to strengthen the bilateral and diplomatic partnership between the two countries. the occasion that occurred yesterday had the understanding of the two nations and the consider it an honour to better mutual respect, trust, and support.

Botswana has become the 46th African country to join the Belt and Road Initiative, following today’s signing of the BRI MoU during FM Wang Yi’s visit to Botswana. Breaking with his predecessor, President Masisi of Botswana is injecting new impetus into Botswana-China relationship.

The talks were also to promote continued cooperation in anti-pandemic efforts as well as various fields in the country including agriculture and digital economy

Wang stated that China appreciates Botswana’s reaffirmation of the one-China principle and will continue to support the country in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,

Kwape expressed gratitude for China’s medical assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
