Infirm Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika made a rare public appearance on Thursday, attending the opening of a new international conference centre in Algiers, official media said.
Flanked by younger brother Said, a wheelchair-bound Bouteflika unveiled a plaque at the site before touring parts of the new complex, images broadcast on state television showed.
Bouteflika, who is serving his fourth term in office, suffered a stroke in 2013 that impeded his mobility and speech.
