Al Shabaab militants attacked Mandera town killing six people Thursday morning in a raid that was targeting 33 non-locals staying at residential plot in Bulla public works.
The militants ambushed them as they slept.
Confirming the incident, area Governor Ali Roba thanked police for their fast response that saw 27 others rescued from the plot.
“Thanks to the prompt response by our security teams, 27 out of 33 occupants of a plot were saved unhurt. Sadly 6 lives are too many to lose,” he said.
He added that one of the victims sustained serious injuries.
