Boris Kodjoe, the actor, has stated that he recently had an operation to repair his sciatic nerve. He is undergoing back surgery for the second time. On Friday, August 18, he posted a video of himself before the operation on his Instagram feed. He was on the hospital bed, dressed in his patient gown.
“I’m at the hospital. I’m about to have a double laminectomy, back surgery,” he said in his post. Giving an insight into his medical history, Boris said the first surgery which was successful was conducted 10 years ago.
“The first time worked really well, so now I’m doing it on two other levels: L1 and L2 and L3 and L4,” he added. He explained further that “sciatic nerve has been impacted for a while now, and it’s super painful all day, every day. So I’m taking care of it today”.
The medical technique is done to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or surrounding nerves caused by spine arthritis. This operation entails the removal of bone spurs and arthritis-related tissues, as well as a small segment of the spine’s vertebrae, in order to widen the spinal canal and create more space.
The actor said that he is getting the surgical surgery, which is being performed by Dr. Watkins, Jr., the son of his former physician. He expressed faith in both surgeons’ abilities and closed by saying he’d keep everyone updated after he awoke from the procedure.
Boris posted an update on the procedure, indicating that he underwent a partial laminectomy in two spots, which is a form of back surgery, similar to one he had on two other vertebrae ten years earlier. He thanked Dr. Watkins Jr. and the staff for their outstanding treatment.
The actor stated that he plans to rest and heal for a few weeks before beginning physical therapy. He conveyed his resolve with the German phrase “Auf geht’s!!,” which means “let’s go.” The next day, he posted a photo of himself at home with his dogs, indicating that he had begun the resting portion of his rehabilitation.
