WATCH: Diana Ross Surprises Beyoncé on Stage for Birthday at Renaissance Tour

It was a memorable experience for American singer Beyoncé when legend Diana Ross decided to surprise Beyoncé on stage at the Renaissance World Tour event in Los Angeles on her 42nd birthday. Ross wowed the crowd with a stunning version of “Happy Birthday.”

The 79-year-old icon surprised fans by joining the Renaissance World Tour’s scheduled intermissions in front of 60,000 ecstatic guests. Beyoncé’s backing vocalists usually handle the transition, with Ross’ 1976 classic “Love Hangover” providing as an interlude. According to Billboard, Ross ascended the stage this time to entertain the audience.

Beyoncé gave Ross an emotional hug on stage after her performance. Ross then led the crowd at SoFi Stadium in a version of “Happy Birthday” for the pop diva, which included Adele, Lizzo, Katy Perry, Normani, Brandy, Chris Rock, Kim Kardashian, and celebrity couples like Justin and Hailey Bieber, Zendaya and Tom Holland. Fans also observed Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner kissing in the audience, which added to the star-studded atmosphere.

Ross wasn’t the only surprise guest during Beyoncé’s Sunday night performance. Kendrick Lamar also made a surprise cameo, performing “America Has a Problem” with Beyoncé and providing a rare live delivery of his verse from the song’s remix, which was released in May.

During the event, Beyoncé gave an emotional birthday address, thanking her fans, family, and former Destiny’s Child bandmates for their tremendous influence on her life. She fought back tears as she expressed her gratitude for being alive, playing on stage, and connecting with her audience. Beyoncé also stressed her love of music as a form of self-healing and as a safe environment for her listeners to heal through her songs.
