They had plans to spend the rest of their lives together. They seemed destined to be – after dating over a decade ago, going their separate ways than finding each other again.
But now they’ve decided to call it quits.
Duduzile Ngwenya, known as DJ Lady Du, and former Isibaya actor Andile Mxakaza have separated. The couple broke up a month ago, the DJ revealed on her social media.
They dated 12 years ago but only for a few months. They reconnected again in April 2020 and after four months of dating, Andile popped the question and Lady Du said yes.
Taking to social media, DJ Lady Du shared that after a number of attacks from strangers and people making her feel uncomfortable, she decided to leave the relationship.
“I am not one for gossip, it bores me. This is from my heart, We did not break up, we followed our hearts and that meant separating before things went south. I’ve had numerous attacks from people I didn’t even know, people making me uncomfortable because of culture, people attacking my character, scratching my cars. So I decided it’s best I follow my heart and leave my relationship. We also realised we want different things. So we are both happy with the decision and we ask that you kindly respect it. It hasn’t affected any of us. Let it not affect you or make you sad. It’s life. We all need to live honest lives,” she said.

Andile also penned a touching message apologizing to Lady Du for the attacks she suffered from strangers while they were together.
“I am sorry you never found peace in our relationship, I am proud how you stood your ground and never gave up even when you were attacked by people. I want you to find true happiness and I am happy with the decision you made, you [are] way stronger then you look,” Andile said.
